Relax Your Jaw Series

A 2-part series of Feldenkrais Method® classes focused on reducing pain and tension in your jaw, neck, shoulders and more... Come to one workshop or attend both at a discount.  Audio recordings will be provided for your home practice.

Relax Your Jaw - Part 1

November 11, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

Learn to relax your jaw as well as other parts of your body that are often associated with jaw tension (neck, shoulders, etc). Gentle movement patterns will bring about relaxation without force or stretching. In addition to reducing tension, the movement patterns will help improve the overall function of your jaw and reduce headache and other associated symptoms. If you suffer from day grinding or night grinding (bruxism) or TMJ syndrome, this workshop is for you!

Relax Your Jaw - Part 2

November 18, 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm

More help for your jaw! Sometimes a direct approach is helpful. Sometimes a more indirect approach is more effective. To that end we will work on refining movements specific to the jaw AND whole body patterns in which jaw tension is a player. We will primarily be working with the connection between the jaw and the hips / pelvis. Leave with a free jaw and free hips! You do not need to attend Part 1 to benefit, however it is encouraged! If you cannot attend Part 1 you can still receive the audio recordings.

Get Your Back Back Series

A 3-part series of Feldenkrais Method® classes focused on reducing pain and tension in your back, neck, shoulders and hips and aligning your spine for better posture and more efficient movement. Come to just one workshop or attend all three at a discount.

Get Your Back Back #1: Lower Back and Hips: 10/8, 1-3 pm

Part 1 will get your hips and lower back playing together nicely again. The lumbar spine and hips are functionally connected. This class will help restore that connection and bring harmony to your hips and back. You will learn to use functional movement patterns, your attention and simple props to effortlessly bring significant change. Leave class with better posture, a spring in your step, and an overall feeling of well-being.

Get Your Back Back #2: Upper Back, Neck and Shoulders: 10/15, 1-3 pm

Part 2 will help you get rid of that pain in your neck and tension in your shoulders.  Your neck, shoulders and upper back can become immobilized with tension. When you learn to move your body so its various parts work together rather than in opposition, the movement itself becomes the antidote to immobility. Leave class with relaxed neck and shoulders, a light and free head and a more upright and effortless posture.

Get Your Back Back #3: Foam Roller 10/22, 1-3 pm

Part 3 will make use of a foam roller to align your spine, engage your core and reduce tension (unnecessary and unproductive) work in your back, neck, hips and shoulders. You can bring your own foam roller (6” x 36”) or borrow one from the instructor. We will be using foam rollers to reduce tension, increase proprioception, engage your core and improve balance.

You will learn exercises that can be done at home, at the gym, and in a chair. The entire class series will be recorded and provided for your home practice. The series takes place over 3 consecutive Sundays.
