MARCH + APRIL
CLASS THEMES

Mondays @ 10:00 AM (1 hour):
"Hands, Arms and Shoulders"
Starts March 9

This series will focus on improving how you use your hands, arms and shoulders.

Possible benefits include:

  • Relief from chronic hand, arm or shoulder tension.

  • Getting back to doing everyday tasks with ease

  • More refinement in your hands for playing music, making art, crafting and sports.

  • Better balance and gait - the organization of your shoulders and arms has a large effect on your balance.

Tuesdays @ 4:30 PM (1 hour):
"Posture Reset - with Props"
Starts March 3

You'll be using various props (foam roller, 4" rubber balls, exercise bands, wall, etc.) to reset your hips and shoulders for better posture and walking. Learn some new ways to use some common props to feel great in your body. Many things change when your hips and shoulders are reset to a more neutral position. Chronic issues with hips, knees, feet, back, neck, shoulders tend to be significantly reduced if not downright gone.

All props are available in-studio. If you plan to attend via Zoom you will need: 36” x 6” Foam Roller, 3-4” soft rubber ball (thick sock ball or folded hand towel can work as well), small loop exercise band. Please contact me if you have questions about buying props.

Thursdays @ 10:00 AM (1 hour):
"Get Hip - Rediscover What Your Hips Are Capable Of"
Starts March 5

We'll focus on improving hip movement in all directions. Get back to activities you love feeling more confident and connected: walking, running, dancing, strength training, sports…all of these and more can benefit. Hip mobility is so important for the health of your back and your knees. Once you get hip, you may almost forget about your back and/or your knees.

Fridays @ 12:30 PM (1 hour):
"Head First - How Freeing Your Head and Neck Unlocks Your Whole Body Series"
Starts March 6

Improve your balance, ease neck and jaw tension, breathe more freely and walk with more confidence by learning how your head posture organizes everything below it. Many people are surprised by how much changes when the head finds its balance atop the spine. When your skeleton is truly supporting you, there's a feeling of ease and groundedness that's hard to describe but unmistakable once you feel it. In this series you might just rediscover what it feels like to be truly at ease in your own body. You may also notice feeling more confident as you walk, an easing of tension throughout your body, and better breathing.

Tuesdays @ 9:30 AM (1 hour)

"The Re-Integrated Leg: Moving Beyond Knee Pain"
Starts April 14

The solution to knee pain often lies beyond the knee itself. In this 8-week series, you'll learn gentle exercises to reorganize your feet and hips for better mobility and dynamic support. When your feet and hips do their jobs well, your knees—and your back—will thank you. You'll also work on undoing asymmetric patterns in your hips and shoulders. Balanced hips and shoulders set the stage for better biomechanics, significantly reducing wear and tear on the knees.

ALL SERIES ARE BEGINNER-FRIENDLY

The start of each series features classes especially suitable for beginners. The classes will be simpler, slower-paced and include teaching on how to DO Feldenkrais, i.e. the approach that makes all the difference in how you benefit.

If you don't make it at the beginning of a series, please still feel free to join anytime.

FAQ

Helpful Information

WHAT DO I NEED FOR ONLINE CLASSES?

Please wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict your ability to move. You may wish to have extra layers available to adjust for temperature.

You will need a comfortable, firm surface to lie on. This could be a pad / mat on the floor, a carpeted floor, but not a bed. Beds are too soft to allow you to move easily.

You will need some support for your head depending on the position(s) required by the class. Classes most often involve lying on your back or on your side. A couple folded towels or foam kneeling pads work well for head support. You will receive communication prior to the class about what props are needed.

You'll need a device running Zoom. Ideally you will set up your device in advance so that you are visible from head to toe while lying on the floor. This will facilitate better feedback. If you prefer not to be visible or to call in rather than use video, it is totally fine.

WHAT DO I NEED FOR IN-PERSON CLASSES?

Please wear comfortable clothing that does not restrict your ability to move. You may wish to have extra layers available to adjust for your particular temperature needs. I tend to keep the studio fairly cozy in the winter and reasonably, but not overly cool in the summer.

The studio has yoga mats, Mexican blankets and a wide variety of other supports and props. You do not need to bring anything to class unless you prefer your own mat.

I have a number of massage / Feldenkrais tables that can be used by folks not wanting to get down on the floor or get back up. Please ask if you need extra support!

WHICH CLASS SHOULD I ATTEND

The vast majority of classes are beginner friendly. Classes at the start of a new series / session are selected with beginners in mind. That said, people join class at various times over a series and do not have difficulty doing so.

Series have particular themes, but Feldenkrais works with all of you, all the time. Therefore, while a class might have a hip, shoulder, or neck theme, those areas of the body will be addressed within the context of the entire body. People often report feeling the benefits of a class in areas that are unique to them and sometimes surprising.

CAN I GET A RECORDING OF CLASS

You can always request a recording of class. If you need to miss a class in a series or you'd like to repeat a class via recording, this is a great option.
